about me
Hi, I’m James Spry, a journalist who has spent the past year or two writing news and features for the Global Cycling Network. Now, I’m doing an MA in Broadcast Journalism at City, University of London.
This site is here to display some of my work, including:
Before my Masters began, I was writing news and features at the Global Cycling Network. I worked there for about 18 months, where I was the first hire in a new team of journalists for their cycling news site.
After about six months putting everything together, we went live in summer 2023, straight into a hectic year of reporting. The first weekend that the site was live, for example, I was already in France, reporting on Paris-Brest-Paris.
Unfortunately, about a year later, GCN was sold to different owners. They closed the site, among other things, and our fun was over. Within the year or so we were live, I published 287 articles and racked up 1.32 million page views.
