Me, England and the Cotswold Way: A travelogue podcast

In August, I walked the Cotswold Way. This podcast is a travelogue of that journey.

I walked for five days and camped for five nights. During that time, I learnt about some parts of English history that allowed me to understand this country slightly better.

I have always loved travelogues. There is something miraculous about how the author’s truthful reactions to a place come together to form a coherent argument about the state of the world. The best of them (IMO) are Paul Theroux (Louis’ dad) and W. G. Sebald. I wanted to have a go myself. My route was the Cotswold Way, and I hoped that I could use my walk to draw together an authentic, truthful narrative about this country.

It’s difficult drawing together a coherent argument from things you come across chronologically on a walk, but I have tried my best. It’s not my first travelogue – a few years ago I wrote one about Kefalonia – but this is the first thing in audio. It’s been a struggle producing this, but so good to get a bit of radio production practice in with this project.

Hope you enjoy.

P.S. You can see the walk on my Strava too.
